What is Public Housing?

Public Housing is a program that was put in place by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It was developed as a means of providing well maintained rental housing for eligible low-income families, individuals, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Do You Qualify for Public Housing?

In order to qualify for public housing, you must meet a variety of income and eligibility requirements. Please review these requirements:

Requirements

  • At least one member of the household must be 18 years of age or older
  • You must qualify on the basis of citizenship or the eligible immigrant status of family members.
  • You must provide social security number information for family members.
  • You must consent to Fargo Housing’s application process and use of family information as needed for verifications.
  • You must fall within the income limits set by The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
