Do I Qualify?

Fargo affordable housing eligibility is based on income and household size, and varies by rental. To qualify for Fargo Housing rentals:

You must meet income requirements. See below for more information.

  • At least one member of the household must be 18 years or older.
  • Qualify on the basis of citizenship or the eligible immigrant status of family members.
  • Provide social security number information for family members as required.
  • Consent to Fargo Housing’s collection and use of family information as provided for in Fargo Housing-provided consent forms.

Housing Choice Vouchers

Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) help pay the rent in the form of vouchers that are paid directly to a private landlord.

Residents choose their own unit in the private market.

Housing Choice Vouchers will be selected by preferences listed below first, followed by date and time of application:

  • Victims of domestic violence, referred by Rape and Abuse Crisis Center
  • Those residing in Cass or Clay County at the time of application
  • Household member with a verifiable disability
  • Mainstream- Household member between 18-61 with a verifiable disability
    •  Transitioning out of an institution or other segregated setting, at serious risk of institutionalization, homelessness or are currently homeless
